Literacy

When you think of butterflies, what do you think of?

Have you ever felt sad/discouraged like the people in the story?

We are called to be a source of hope to others. Draw an outline of a butterfly. The easiest way to do this is to take a piece of paper and fold it in half as if you were making a card. Then starting at the fold draw a large 3 and then cut it out. Write the word HOPE inside in bold letters. Use different colours to decorate the butterfly.  Place your butterfly in a window for others to see or make more than one to hang from a tree outdoors.

Math

Have a look around your house and see if you can see patterns on the rugs, curtains, wallpaper, tiles/flooring, clothing, bedspreads etc.

Today you are going to create patterns using 3 different items.

Your pattern can be AB AB or AAB AAB or ABB ABB or ABC ABC etc.

  1. Create your own action pattern by using your hands to tap different body parts. For example, hands on head, hands on shoulders and repeat or hands on head, hands on shoulders, hands on hips and repeat etc.

  2. Create your own lego/blocks, stuffies, action figures, dolls or hot wheel cars pattern. For example stuffed bear, stuffed dog and repeat etc.

  3. Create your sound/music/noise pattern. Find some wooden sticks/spoons, plastic containers, pots and pans or empty boxes etc. and pretend they are instruments and then “play a pattern”.

Catholic Education Week Reflection – The Hope Among Us

The faith that lives within us is one that we share, and it is in our believing community that we support one another and work together to witness and realize that faith for others.  In the face of challenges and struggles, our hope is grounded in the faith in Jesus that binds us together. Given our present situation, discuss as a family, who/what is your source of hope?
