Wednesday's Wonders

Literacy: The season of Lent is soon drawing to a close. Lent is a time to grow in goodness and love. The story of a flower’s growth is a great Lenten symbol. Your task is to cut out 4 rectangles/squares out of white paper. Talk about the growth sequence of a flower starting with (1) seed/bulb, (2) roots/stem begin to grow, (3) leaves grow bigger/bud appears and (4) a full blossom/flower. See pictures below. Draw/colour a picture for each stage. JK students can label each stage and SK students can try to come up with a sentence to print under each picture (with the help from an adult).

Math:

Pretend you are the Easter Bunny delivering eggs to children. Go outside on your driveway, or in your backyard or in the hallway in your condo/apartment building. Now using small bunny hops, hop the length of the driveway etc., counting how many small hops it takes to get to the end. Record the number. Repeat hopping using medium hops and then using large hops and don’t forget to record the number. Finally, simply walk like a bunny and count your steps and record. Compare the numbers you recorded and try ordering them from smallest to largest and vice versa.
