Literacy: Have you ever said the word “oops” before when you made a mistake? If so, you are going to really enjoy today’s story! Click the link to listen to the story, 'Beautiful Oops' : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C3JAblkBds What did you think of the story? The next time you have an “oops” moment remember to think about what you could do to make it better! Today you are going to use your imagination to turn abstract lines and random shapes into beautiful art. Parents, please print out the activity sheet below. Students will try to make a picture within each square. Once they have made their pictures, they can do their best to sound out and label each picture. JK parents might need to assist their child with the writing part of this task. If you are unable to print out the activity sheet, you can create your own random lines and make pictures out of them. We can’t wait to see everyone’s imagination with this activity!

Math:

Are you ready to create a shape-o-saurus?!

Today you are going to either colour white paper or use construction paper to cut out different shapes. Shapes can include: squares, triangles, circles, rectangles, or any other shape you can think of! Once you have at least 3 different types of shapes, cut them out and then glue the shapes down on to paper to form your choice of dinosaur. Once all of the shapes are glued down you can colour on eyes, spikes, teeth, and anything you feel your dinosaur needs.  Next, the SKs will sound out and write out all of the shape names that they used and write the number of each that they used right next to the shape names. JK parents can write out the words in a light colour or highlighter for their child to trace.   Now for the final step... naming your dinosaur! SKs will do their best to stretch and sound out their name and JKs can either try and sound it out or parents can write it out for them to trace.
