Holy Thursday

Please read the following -

Bonus: Watch this Youtube video

Create some praying hands (See example). While doing the craft ask your child who they would invite to a special dinner or celebration.

Praying Hands

  1. Trace your hands on a piece of paper. Put them close together so you can fold the paper to put the hands together to make a card. (See Picture)

  2. Cut out

  3. Fold on the hand or thumb line depending on how you did it.

  4. Write praying hands on the front, then open and write Dear Jesus: (insert your own prayer, e.g. thank you for my family) Love: (your own name). Some students my need highlighter writing to trace, others can copy or try to write independently.

  5. Decorate the hands as you like.

Math

Show your child the following picture

Ask: 1. What do you see? How Many Dots?

2. Can you write the number?

3. Is that closer to the number 5 or the number 10? Why do you think that? (Students may say “it doesn’t fill the line” or “it’s just 2 more to 5 but 7 more to 10” or “It’s closer on the number line to...” There can be various ways of thinking, you may want to draw, or have your chid draw, a number line to help them explain)

Repeat with the second picture if your child wants to.

Naomie knew 3 was closer to 5 on the number line after we counted the spaces . “2 spots to get here (5) and 7 to get to here (10) “
